Western medicine was gotten rid of at least a generation ago. When you look back in history it looks much more like alternative medicine of today. They used things that worked. The things that worked were ridiculed or outlawed.
After that was done and all things that worked were called quackery then they started "searching" for cures. These new cures were much more profitable because they could be patented.
