Why God does exist: https://files.catbox.moe/iktc9z.jpg
- There must be a Prime Mover (Catalyst)/ That prime mover is not the god of Abraham
- There must be a reason the Prime Mover moved/ That reason is not necessarily the creation of humanity
- There must be a necessary being/ That necessary being is not necessarily conscious
- Because some things are worse than others, something perfect must exist/ I blame the table, this argument sucks. Even God makes mistakes in the bible, so Aquinas can't be talking about Abraham's god. His argument proves something must be the Best, not that it's Perfect. Even the best can make mistakes and improve.
- Someone must be controlling bugs. That someone? God./ Genes, instincts, bottom up emergent order evolution. Also plausible, not Debunked by supernatural explanations. I respect Aquinas for his time. Given the internet, I think he would have come to Spinoza's god or Daoism rather than Christ.
It's not meant to prove the God of Abraham, even though it is the one true God, St. Thomas never says that.
Also you didn't address anything metaphysical you just made baseless opinions.
His argument "sucks" is not a rebuttal, it's a weak cop out.
It's not an opinion that "Perfection cannot be due to the imperfect but only due to something even more perfect" is a non sequitur. It begs the question then makes a leap that perfection is derived from perfection when he makes no causal connection. Perhaps perfection is not the offspring of a perfect being, but an iteration of an imperfect being, as a good father wants what is best for his children perhaps god is an inferior being creating a fantasy greater than himself.
We know Art can transcend the Artist. That in fact is the OBSERVED factual nature of creation. How many despicable people have created something beautiful? If we are truely in god's image, then it follows that god is like us. We are flawed, then god his flawed. If he is a good creator, then we are superior being to god. If god is an inferior creator, then he is not perfect.
Metaphysical enough for you?
