We massively over produce food in North America and export it all over the world.
We make far far more than we can possibly eat.
The problem is not a shortage of food. The problem is a shortage of paying customers.
If that is the case, why is the San Juaquin Valley being deprived of 2/3 of the water needed for crops? SJV alone can produce enough fruit & veg for the US, yet the Delta Smelt is more valuable to the ecosystem? Of course, the SJV has been dormant now for maybe 8-10 years.

So enviro/ politicians lobby to shut off water to the top fruit/veg producing region in the US, and it seems like a scam? Remember the bastards at the top can enact a plan and wait 10-15-20 years for it to develop. This might just be step 2...
