Glasses can be fairly inexpensive (not cheap) if you know where to look and have a prescription that's not terribly complex.
What pisses me off is people like my father. He can't hear, and is fully eligible for hearing aids for next to nothing through the VA. Won't get them. I need them as well, but for me they'd cost $5000 each because insurance doesn't pay for any of that. I'd love to be able to hear what people are saying, but I guess not being able to gives me an out to keep going "what?" to them until it pisses them off. Wearing masks are doubly so, I just ignore them because I can't hear them.
I have a mild hearing loss too, which isn't usually a problem when I read lips, especially for people who can't articulate words correctly. With masks, everyone is partially muffled and it's enough that I can't understand a lot of people. It just adds to the frustration level when I'm forced to go to stores.
I use it as liberty to ignore people.
More so than usual.
My father lost his hearing because he's old and he worked around rotary engines on aircraft for a long period of time, then spent years in a mill without much hearing protection because that wasn't a thing.
I lost part of my hearing because of an ear infection.
well i was thinking if you look enough alike, you could use his info/id and go get those hearing aids. it's the VA after all.
