Maybe I value too much the word "friend", and the notion of friendship attached to it. And maybe your standards when it comes to "friends" and "friendship" are a bit too low

And why is it painful to just live with yourself to begin with?
Why do you absolutely need "friends"/company, in the first place? What are you looking for, what's missing, what's that void you need to fill?
Loneliness is bad for you. There’s a reason solitary confinement is how they punish people already in prison. Cause being alone is worse than being around thieves and murderers
