I don't even know what it is called, but the basic posture is to hold one hand up over it's own shoulder and then you reach across your chest with the other and grab the other end that is hanging down From there you can strike either down or across, and end up in the same posture on the other side, ready again. Same thing goes for a staff or tumfa, etc. I have a minuscule amount of instruction, and yet I still automatically pick up and twirl sticks this way decades later.
