Good observation- but the fact that he was able to hit the guy right in the mouth while he was sprinting, and as an ambush no-less, displays that this kid has some skills.
If you look closely, it was actually a pretty good, cleanly thrown right hook- for the circumstances, at least. His arm went a little noodly as the guy's head collided with his fist, which could indicate that he didn't have his elbow parallel to the ground; if he did, a punch like that could kill on it's own. And yeah the brick wall on the way down doesn't help, but I'm 99% sure the guy was KO'ed or close to it just from the punch.
