Decades ago, in the 60s-70s in 3rd world countries I saw several refrigerators that ran on burning kerosene in areas that had no electricity.
These seem like something that plenty of people know about, and don't think much of it, maybe assume it's common knowledge. And everyone else who would have their mind blown when told that you can use fire to cool a box.
Modern/on the market now RVs have refrigerators that will automatically switch from using 120V AC, 12V DC, or propane depending on what it senses is available.
