Back around 2008 microsoft bought an 8sraeli defense research group working on a high grade motion tracking technology at the time purportedly part of a short range missile tracking contract for their army, code named project natal internally, this system became Microsoft's Kinect motion tracker device for xbox 360 and xbox one, first of ita kind always on camera and microphone, massive big brother vibes, the system uses infrared dots projected from a central point to track movement as the system can use each dot as a range finder and it has built in software to detect various objects and estimate their shape/size based on dot displacement. If you boost the number of dots and apply high resolution cameras you get the tracking system on the iron dome. The technology is now used in virtual reality applications for accurate tracking and mapping data in film compositing with cg, it is used in airports and certain high defense targets like on the white house lawn or the inner courtyards of our embassies, drones are being adapted with the system as they can gather topographical data continuously but also detect large movement in a wider field of view at night than with the normal nightvision/FLIR technology. And yes it seems there are multiple programs for self guided rockets and simulant environment tracking. Imagine a drone maps the topography and a commander selects a target in the grid artillery and rocketry systems tied into the grid could be digitally aimed to that grid then fine tuned for accuracy using the topography map, drone quadcopters already use the software to avoid collisions.

It's not that hard to get off all the left-tech, the google/facebook/amazon/microsoft/etc stuff. But it does take effort and a willingness to give up some conveniences.
