Manson was a really interesting guy. From small time drug dealer and pimp to the stars in Hollywood to songwriter to the arms of MK-Ultra (he shared an apartment with I believe it was Dr. Cameron).
Essentially he was used to discredit the intellectual and conservative involvement in the anti-war movement by tying it into the hippies and drug fueled counterculture.
