Oh, holy hell. Psycho doctors are a real thing. It's like they think they are some Nightingale angel of mercy but in reality they get off being the arbiter of death. It's one thing to be a clumsy no talent goof who effs up on people but these sorts are just off the wall insane. I never fully trust a medical worker if I sense something off. Since I'm poor and cheap I used to go to Tijuana for dentistry and medical emergencies. First, I have to defend preconceptions about medicine in Mexico. It's usually very good. On one occasion due to overwork, not enough water and bad hygiene on the job I somehow contracted a bladder or kidney infection. Since it's rare in men and I had never experienced it I had no idea what was wrong with me until I was pissing blood at work and running a high fever. It was a Friday and I had gradually been growing weaker all week. Now I knew I was in trouble so I drove to the border and was too weak to walk far so got a taxi to a clinic the taxi driver dropped me off at. The doctor was a young flirty lady with a sense of humor but seemed very kind. She gave me a broad spectrum antibiotic after taking urine and blood samples. The antibiotic was laced with Lidocaine. I still felt like hell but slowly walked back to the border. I really was feeling much better and in much less pain. I returned the following day where she already had my results and prescribed an antibiotic for the infection. Again it also had Lidocaine. Again I felt much better. She had me return every evening for my shot after I got off work. Last shot she wasn't available so I was sent to a next door clinic where I met her on call nurse who gave me the injection. When the doctor gave the injection she was so quick and painless. Just a small jab in the ass cheek and I'm done. I think she enjoyed seeing my butt because she was always so flirty and making jokes. Also she loved drawling out my name like she enjoyed the way it rolled off her tongue. LOL. Her nurse was a huge Latina lady. Not fat, just thick and tall with a slab for a face. No fun at all. Damn, that nurse drove that needle deep in my ass cheek like it was meant to hurt and it did hurt like hell. Pay at the desk and leave. However, dentistry was another thing and for the most part went well. I had a couple crowns but one tooth needed a root canal. I remember a time before the dentist doing a crown commented I had a rather unusual jaw and muscle so she had trouble finding the nerve to put in a block. This dentist this time for the root canal just did one shot. I complained I could still feel and she assured me it was just pressure. I wasn't feeling pain. Over and over I told her it hurt and she told me over and over the nerve was blocked and I wasn't feeling pain. It's just pressure. By the time it was over I was drenched in sweat, very pale and shaking. I kept my sanity by singing that song in my head over and over. You know the one? "Don't tell me cause it hurts"? I changed it up to "Don't tell me it doesn't hurt". Seemed more appropriate. Sadly, I had two more root canals and I delayed it for months but when I returned another dentist was there to do the job. This was a younger better trained dentist who had to give me five shots before he found the nerve which he said was way out of normal placement and positioned behind thick jaw muscles. The two root canals when very nicely with no real pain. BTW, the previous dentist who claimed I wasn't really feeling pain must have amazing focus. When she was finished she looked down and saw my drenched shirt, my very pale and sweaty skin and had the decency to appear ashamed. I guess normal for people having lots of pain is screaming? Nope, I'm a welder. If hot metal drops on us we keep welding until the little red hot spatter bits cool off.
