Having kids doesn't get rid of the problems we face, and we no longer have enough time to raise kids - at this point we will have conflict before a kid could be raised to a 'useful' age (here, roughly the age a young man could handle a rifle safely solo, or 12-13).

The time is better spent preparing - there is no way we have a decade left.
