Hi. I am happy to elaborate but heres the short high level
Every airframe in class a-c airspace (the non rural ones) require an adsb transponder. This is essentially ""radar"" as the transponder sends radio signals to the ATCs and other planes so they know where theyre at.
Unlike mil, which can "mask" their transponder (they will show up usually but not show any details), LE cant do this.
Therefore, i created a db and added the ICAO24 of all the airframes of interest (fed, state, local, private, shell/private) using FAA registry -which is like a hex VIN identifier.
I then created a backend that connects to a decentralized network of people who set up antennas that demodulate the signals via a rpi and then sent it to the network. In exchange, I get acess to the API.
The api Runs every 15 seconds, and fetches all the airframes with their transponders on from hawaii to estonia. Then it filters out what I dont want, and displays the live location (link in the vid desc).
What youre looking at is 67 million rows of historic data ive recorded over the last year.
The latter part of the video (note my agency selection mid way after i switch off dhs) is an Army NRO and alphabet surveillance program that has nearly 100 planes reged to a PO Box 7 In VA (LOL) of some sort thats gridding these cities at the same time, altitude, and speed every day religiously. These planes have no visible cameras on the airframe fuselege and are usually blue underneath.
I also have data from their other planes that hint at them knowing where last years wildfires were going to start days weeks and months before they started.
Thanks man. That is bad ass. Good work (I think).
