I remember the power of nightmares, the mayfair set,the century of the self. This one.....seems weak by comparison. Now Curtis never was some extreme liberal, but he did stay on the more lefty side of the scale. Lately he seems to go into weird places full of symbolism, confusing messages and weird interpretations.
The docu has 6 parts. Most of it is about videos and images from the late 19'th towards mid 20'th century glued together and compiled to give a more meaningful message. But that message is kind of weak ,and opaque on many occasions.
There are interesting parts where he stays on point, but there are also places where he goes off the rails. Like trying to undermine conspiracies. Sure, I get it, there is way too much hysteria everywhere, there are far too many conspiracies out there. Like the Illuminati controlling everything, when in fact the Illuminati had no control whatsoever for centuries, there are other forces at work. But his way of presenting these subjects have a distinct smell and taste of Bias to them. He presents them like there is absolutely no conspiracy anywhere,it's just in your head, the world is a chaotic mess and that is that. Yeah, I wish that truly was the case.
