Don’t confuse God with organized religion. I firmly believe that organized religion has been taken over by evil forces for that very reason: it convinces people that life is about suffering and shame. I used to be an atheist for more than 10 years because I was raised by a church that brainwashed me into feeling utter guilt and shame over everything. I had to become an atheist just to enjoy life! It was about 5 years ago that I was introduced to the idea that you can have a direct relationship with God. You don’t need organized religion as a broker to God. God will wear whatever mask you like. Figure out what you think God might be, and then pray to and interact with that. You might seriously be surprised at the unexplainable shit that starts happening in your life. Ever since finding my own personal relationship with God, life is so much more fun, exciting, mystical, supernatural, and amazing. Praying and interacting with my spirit team has solved my loneliness and isolation, and illuminated my soul’s purpose in life. I feel strongly supported on a spiritual level, and I’m able to get real answers to help me navigate life. Forget about organized religion and just start praying to whatever you think God/the divine/spirit/whatever is.
