Ex Security Guard. Security can arrest you. However if they fuck up. They dont have police unions to back them up. So they tend to not want to arrest you. However I hope that guy sues the shit out of that store.

Whether store security can be registered as peace officers depends on your state/country. But whether someone can be arrested for refusing to leave (ie, not wearing a mask) isn't something store security should be arresting people for.

Security has the same power as anyone to make a citizens arrest. If you commit a crime on private property they are protecting. Yes they can arrest you. They are not cops however, and have no backing by lawyers and unions.

You can arrest someone and detain them until an officer comes if they are attempting a serious crime but you better be sure it's justified.

Speaking of Cucknadia, about six months ago an old leaf friend posted on Facebook. She's a really 'cool' girl, covered in tattoos, purple hair, very 'rebellious.'

She went to get an oil change (of course she didn't just do it herself), and was shocked to see that the mechanics weren't wearing masks. So she complained to the corporate parent of the lube chain she had gone to, and was bragging on facebook that her actions had forced all the mechanics in this lube chains 50 or whatever stores to wear masks through their entire shifts. She was so proud of herself. I don't know if I've ever felt such unadulterated hatred for anyone I've ever known personally in my life before.
