Meh, the gist I get is that he's at best and idealistic bullshitter and at worst a con man who's gaming people for funds, like any other billionaire ceo. I don't like it, but fudging numbers and ginning up enthusiasm are part and parcel of his level of business these days. Like the dollar, things are only worth the faith people have in it, and that faith brought us Teslas and self landing rockets. I ain't mad, we gotta start somewhere.

SpaceX's only goal is Starship, anything else orbiting around (Starlink, Falcon 9 launches...) is used to fund it.

One minute in and this guy is already coming off as intellectually dishonest, taking the cost price per launch for customers doesn't tell you how much spacex lowered their internal costs over time, and what do you know? The he's citing has been edited to clarify this, it's actually 15 million to refurbish. If he did more research than a third-rate journalist he would know when reusability really took off spacex said they're not lowering the price too much because they need to recoup their investments.

The comparisons to the escobar phone and other outright scams just tells me this guy has some cult following and these videos are more like fan service. Gonna skim through this but I expect this to be a waste of time.

Thunderf00t really has a hardon for hating Musk. Don't get me wrong, Musk is not the african god that faggit users claim he is, and he and those who work for him market the shit out of the company (to the point of delusion).

Some random stuff I noted...

  1. The comparison to the shuttle is terrible, and he should have compared to OrbitalATK's launches, since it's SpaceX's only real American competition. e.g. Even with SpaceX increasing prices for the second resupply contract, they are still cheaper than OrbitalATK (as well as every other launch provider on the planet).

  2. Falcon 9/Dragon 2 are human rated, not sure why he kept putting that in his comparison with the shuttle

  3. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) themselves calculated $55m/person to the ISS. So no one has to have faith in SpaceX's numbers per person. It's the cheapest.

  4. The most important one. Cost to company vs Price to customer are two very different things. Any company worth it's salt will charge as much as they can while staying low enough to make the sale. There needs to be competition for prices to fall. Thunderf00t absolutely has to be being disingenuous with this one because he is a smart guy and that's a stupid people mistake.

There's plenty more wrong with the video, but these are just a few facepalm moments I had. Hopefully he has something more substantial in part 2 (will watch later). It auto-played while I was writing this and he made another fudge in the first minute.

The cost of the booster stage is more than 10% of orbital lift cost to throw it away. Also, there is no mention of economic opportunity gained by shorter turnaround of the rocket.
