It's a primal instinct for defense. When they were confronted by another tribe or predator, they would try to scare them away by being the loudest and appearing the most aggressive.
You have to keep in mind that these primitive savages are from the jungle and have probably survived due to their massive jungle lungs that allowed them to evade predators and hunt prey. So now that they have been domesticated, their jungle lung capacity has become a vestige of their past. In addition to using it to dominate at sports, the lazier ones use their jungle lung capacity to provoke the sound of 10 chanting jackasses.
