I am perplexed by the trend also. The donator-streamer paradigm is bizarre. My kids are into Dream and I watched him play Minecraft while people are sending him money to just play a fucking video game. I think we have failed our children. They are so desperate for interaction that they have to pay someone to validate their existence. The short time some streamer spends reading out their donation is the closest thing to praise these kids get from people. We went from the "participation trophy" society to "just ignore them and let the internet raise them" society in a heart beat.
