I gave up sugar 2 years ago. All forms, synthetic, processed, artificial and natural sugars. Quit cold turkey. I was shocked at just how much sugar is in everything we are told to eat/drink. Just about every processed or manufactured food contains sugar, from bread to taco shells. It took about two weeks for the cravings to go away. Now I find the idea of eating anything with sugar in it repulsive. Even over the counter medication is full of sugar. One side effect, of not eating sugar is my immune system is firing on all cylinders. I can’t remember the last time I caught a cold. I did catch a flu earlier this year, but it lasted less than 24 hours, fever broke and I was better the next day. In the past getting the flu meant at least a full week of body aches and misery. I know it seems a little strange but I have avoided any and all sugar intake for the last 2 years. I feel good.

After giving up sugar, do you still find enjoyment in any foods? I'm curious about what your taste are now.

Not being hungry is my biggest enjoyment. I eat breakfast, a hard boiled egg, steak, and bacon, with a tab of butter on top. I bury it in Himalayan pink salt. I don’t get hungry later in the day. I feel full most of the day. I don’t need snacks. I never snack. Ever. I almost mechanically eat lunch because that’s what I’m supposed to do at that time. I should switch to two meals a day.

Try Intermittent fasting, basically cut your intake period down to a 6-8 window per day. Eat the same amount just over a shorter period to allow the insulin to process

so not even any fructose from like fruit and stuff? wow. Congrats : )

Not even fructose. I avoid fruit and fruit juices. It was hard to break the habit, fruit and vegetables are pushed hard and drilled into your head with the mantra 5-6 servings daily. Eat your fruit, eat your vegetables, be healthy. I haven’t touched a piece of fruit in 2 years. No scurvy, turns out your body makes vitamin C from animal fat, naturally. You don’t need to eat vitamin C, your body can make it.

Absolute hogwash. Humans along with chimps and a few other animals all don't make their own vitamin c and must get it from external sources. High dose vitamin C is a damn miracle. Look a the works of Linus Pauling. Sugar is bad but don't delude yourself about vitamin C. You can cure heart disease and even cancer if it's caught soon enough with high dose vitamin c. With cancer, the vit c must be intravenous.

This is partially inaccurate. There is no means by which you can produce vitamin C. You can get it from sources that we do not expect to have it, though, and many of those do not contain sugar, such as leafy greens, peppers and brussel sprouts.

Fermentation theory aka ... I forget the term ... is accurate. If you have nefarious microbes in your gut and feed them sugar they will ferment the sugar and cause disease.

My ancestors drank like champions. If anything, I'll bet sugar's worse for me than alcohol.

Our food navigation system evolved around the natural world. If you trust your gut and eat exclusively natural foods, you'll be fine. Start eating processed foods and all bets are off. Better have good appetites, or discipline.

Naturally occurring fructose is a signal that the food's not poison. Many seeds can survive a digestive tract and thrive in poop. Cooperation is competitive.

Sugar is WORSE, because at least alcohol is enjoyable!
