I have spend considerable time in an off grid shipping container house. That thing is pretty bloody solid and does not rest on borrowed land.
There isn't a one size fits all with tis type of house.
I'm sure you would find no shortage of people who live like this and wouldn't give it up for the shit hole you might live in.
