The Chief of Police was bringing in several paychecks just for himself with gobs of overtime. As I remember it, one guy ran for city council and immediately got a check for $10,000.00 He had no idea why he got paid this and maybe it was given to him by mistake not knowing he hadn't been vetted yet to keep his mouth shut. He asked questions but used the money anyway. But he started asking more questions and they tried to silence him. Oh, but now his dick's in a vise. So the city went after him. An investigation was started. The public got wind of it and started taking note of all the bills the city was charging them for. Anyway, the investigation just kept growing and no one could shut it down as federal agents got involved. Most of the higher ups in the city got purged and charged with embezzling. The people did regain some control of their city when it was all over but really, it's never all over. My question is, since this was going on in just one city against a population that was mostly immigrant and ignorant, I have to wonder, how much of this corruption is all over California. Every damn time some person in office is caught on the take, it's some low life immigrant or from an immigrant family. Hell, we even have illegal aliens in office now. They come across the border and instantly go for the max payout. And the blacks here in California, especially in LA are just totally corrupt. Maxine Waters, how the hell does she stay in office year after year?
