It seems that they were worried Trump would get it pushed through faster than they had anticipated and he would use it as a big announcement to help secure his re‐election, so they were priming people to be skeptical of it. It was clear that they had the vaccine announcement delayed until just after the election to prevent that from happening. I bet they put the word out to stop sowing distrust of the vaccine as soon as they had that plan in place.
