The most common question I receive from concerned and regretful parents is “will my child be OK after getting through myopericarditis?”

No. They won't be ok. The likely progression will be to cardiomyopathy leading to cardiac failure with a 50% mortality within 5 years. That's not OK, that's Marcellus Wallace levels of not OK.

Something that isn't mentioned at all is, what about the cases of myocarditis that were misdiagnosed, ignored or were sub-clinical. I don't think there is any literature on the medium to long term mortality statistics of untreated myocarditis, whether severe or "mild". This could be a real hidden killer, with people dropping dead over the next decade or so from "sudden" heart attacks. An autopsy would reveal scarring in the myocardium, progressing to cardiomyopathy. They will probably try and blame this on COVID itself.
