I am not military, but in my mind it's like the difference between losing someone in your unit versus squad wiping some hapless enemy teenage combatants. I could see where you might feel like, "what a waste," but they would kill you first if given the chance.
And maybe that is sort of the feel. I have been threatened and harmed immensely by the vaxed society. So perhaps I don't feel the same kinship as I would have before.
Mind you I am not ready to squad wipe the vaxed, but I am definitely on a different footing now.
Yeah, that's perfectly normal, everything is relative.
You definitely experience some loss of empathy in that circumstance.
