several aussie politicians have said the same thing to justify their actions even though their own 'experts' which they supposedly trust say it doesn't. they seem to weirdly have their wires crossed on this one cause i've seen the same media outlets try to act like the vax does stop transmission, then say it doesn't, then switch again between the two. either way it doesn't matter, they can just flat out lie with zero consequences.
your probably witnessing the double speak. They will quietly say that it doesnt stop the spread while heavily implying that it does. For example, i remember one article saying something along the lines of 'It might not stop you from spreading the virus but the vaccine is the best protection we have to end the pandemic', implication being that the vaccine will end the pandemic which requires it not spreading immediately after stating the fact that it doesnt do shit.
