Heard something like this on my local radio station. A caller started talking about vaxed being being mystery super-spreaders driving the case numbers up, they interrupted and told her they were all out of time for their show, then the co-hosts awkwardly filled in the remaining half a minute of airtime by making small talk about football. I think they were triaging callers based on their topics and were hoping to run out of airtime before they got to take her call.
