It’s weird here everyone is trying to hire, mid class restaurants are offering 1,000 hiring bonuses and stores are all offering 15+ dollars an hour.
I drove by Wendy’s and they have signs in their windows “work today, get paid tomorrow” lol.
A lot of people won’t be able to manage a daily paycheck.
I see those signs too, and I checked a few of them out before I found a real job.
The schedules were unpredictable and, except in some cases, didn't offer any kind of hours to make it worthwhile.
I don't know about the bonus thing, they weren't really doing that Q3 last year, but I'd guess they are paid after 90-180 days and it's in the store owner's best interest to make sure those aren't paid out.
Thanks for clearing it up, I didn’t know how the Wendy’s thing worked, I just figured every millennial would be broke daily living like the “grass hopper”, with nothing for rent and utilities at the end of the month.
That’s kind of sleazy with the bonuses, no wonder they can’t find anyone to stay, word gets around. You may hear it from someone and think, sure you probably fucked up but when you hear it from multiple people the businesses lose credibility.
I can't see them paying a bonus day one - how many nogs would show up for a few days, collect a bonus, then just vanish like chocolate in the Sahara? I mean, I'd have to consider that as well. Need a grand? Take a job for a few days. I know that's not right, so I don't, and it's why I'll never get ahead of the game.
But yeah, fast food and retail has never really been about a 9-5 type job, they don't want people there during the dead hours. I do know of a few joints that offer their employees a full-time job, but that's very rare.
