I was 8 years old in the cub scouts. Me and a friend where heiling Hitler (we were watching Hogans Hero’s and loved that show and sergeant Shultz and colonel Klink) anywhoo a veteran saw us, he was a b-17 tail gunner and described the horrors of the concentration camps to us and why we shouldn’t heil Hitler. Nothing about being a tail gunner on a b-17. Just how much he hated Nazis and how we should be ashamed of ourselves. I look back on that moment and realize that bastard was a Jew and lied to us. I’ve met real B-17 tail gunners since then and all they talked about was the shear terror they felt when the me-109s made a run on them. None of them gave a shit about Jews and concentration camps. They just wanted to stay alive.
