There is merit in a creative method of information gathering that offers insight which others don't have. Of course if it's being presented as a magic crystal ball it's always going to be a marketing ploy to sell something, or to garner attention. However we should recognize that as the general public using only the most basic resources that we have, we are completely in the dark. There is still the possibility to be inventive and go outside of the conventional channels to gain an advantage in the information war.
So basically we should keep our creative minds going, but also guard it from charismatic enticing bullshit.
