Love thy neighbor was never in reference to neighboring countries. It was another way of saying "stay to your own."

You are misinformed. Try reading the parable of the good samaritan.

in the parable of the good samaritan the man was beaten bloody and left for dead. he was clearly suffering.

he wasn't "suffering" from homosexuality or transgenderism or structural racism

The verses leading to the parable consist of a lawyer loving God but not the people around him. He wanted to justify his disdain for people that weren't like him. Jesus calls for us to love others UNCONDITIONALLY. Just because I love someone who obviously has a multitude of sin in their life, doesn't mean I agree with their ideology. If looking at it from a spiritual perspective, as Jesus did, all who are outside of Him are suffering. They are suffering from spiritual influences and bondage of sin. Your neighbor is everyone, and anyone can be forgiven of their sins if they believe in Him and repent. Christ died for everyone, not just me and you.

If you read Luke 10 where they have the parable of the good Samaritan, Jesus himself uses that parable to explain who your "neighbor" really is. The idea is that you should love people who love you, and not pour your love on people who wouldn't help you when you need it.

I don't know what happened in the past, but we've had this bastardization of the lesson pushed on everyone to love everyone all the time. This is stupid and clearly not the point of the message. And it just goes to show you that people don't think anything through. If you look at sleeping around, you know the sin, because it leads to all sorts of potential problems. Yet loving people who don't care about you, or even hate you, could end up causing you far more trouble than screwing around with strangers.

"I came to this earth not to bring peace, but a sword."

And this!

>I have come to turn "'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law

That's even more true today.

Most families have at least one brainwashed member in them who is blind to the truth, and who is contributing to their own destruction and the destruction of the world.

Fighting for what's best for our families, sometimes consist of fighting against our own family members.

yeah, love thy neighbor was more of a reference to don't go where you don't belong and if you do and cause problems you are susceptible to retribution.

Amen! Lord Almighty, we pray you give us discernment in these matters that your Word be used according to your will.

Context would be nice. This means nothing to me without.

It's from the Bible. The Gospel of Matthew.

The section it is taken from is called the Sermon on the Mount. Which is a collection of saying and teaching attributed to Jesus.

The context is - Jesus is giving a sermon. He says, "Do not give that which is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, for they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces." - That's it. That's the entire context.

Before that is a random unrelated saying or teaching attributed to Jesus. And after it is another random unrelated saying or teaching that's attributed to Jesus.

Matthew 10:34-39

34Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. 37Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
