I lived in New Zealand for 10 years in the 1980s. They have "National Health Service". I used to run, hike and ride bicycles on weekends. I injured my knee. and if I tried those activities it got swollen and painful. Went to the General Practitioner I was assigned to by the neighborhood I lived. Was asked if I had to run, hike, or bicycle for my job. Uh, no. Then don't run, hike, or bicycle. I got my knee fixed as soon as I moved back to the US. The last time I was in Australia there were ads on the TV from hospitals in Thailand to do procedures and major operations (amazingly cheap compared to US hospitals) had years long waiting lists in the Australian NHS.
