That's pretty good.
We were discussing an experiment dubbed "Mouse Utopia" on the poalcast. In the experiment, a bunch of mice were given a good, but enclosed habitat and left to their own devices. At first things were good, but once the population reached critical mass, their social order began to degenerate, with disastrous results. There's lots of detailed analysis of this on Youtube. Some dude. (youtube.com) John Calhoun, the experimenter. (youtu.be)
Anyway, in the final stage of this dystopia, "The Beautiful Ones" emerged.
There are some parallels to be drawn between these damaged mice and the non-monstrous masses of humans we hide ourselves away from in this underworld.
But mostly I just think it's a good name and very fitting for this paradigm. If we are monsters, it is because we exist in contrast to those who are beautiful. Thus, I will start calling non-monsters Beautiful Ones.
Has someone ever described you, an idea you believe in, or your co-ideologues as evil? Do you have to "hide your power level", censoring your true thoughts and feelings to get by in professional and social spheres?
You are a monster. We are monsters. Or at the very least, we are monstrous in the eyes of others. As soon as our true nature is revealed, normal folk recoil in disgust.
This is a sub to contemplate the nature of our abominable, fallen state that separates us from common humanity and forces us to huddle in the shadows.
