Every state has some sort of involuntary commitment laws already on the books. If I'm a danger, they can lock me away. But no, that doesn't allow the left to take away the big bad guns.

Red flag laws are going to stop people from seeking help with mental health issues, especially with veterans and police. These laws won't stop with someone reporting someone, they'll be expanded to people dealing with depression or self destructive behavior like drinking too much. If people have to choose between getting help or protecting themselves or those they love then they will try to tough it out.
