Surprised me, but seems not too unusual for an office to be given to a relative after death.
Some unelected dude or gal holding office just because they're related to the original incumbent? Unusual or not, I don't like it. It reeks.
Hopefully she's only going to be a lame duck surrogate without any real power and not easily manipulated by TCTB (The Cunts That Be).
