I don't think voting has ever been a battle.
As a matter of fact, I think that voting has purposely been pushed as 'a battle' to convince people to care less about the humans around them.
I used to think voting mattered; maybe it once did.
But that is clearly not the case anymore.
Votes has no sway, whatsoever, on national policy, at least in the USA.
