President Trump has signaled support for a proposed bill targeting nonprofit organizations involved in organizing riots by removing their tax-exempt status and making them ineligible for federal funding.
The “No Tax Dollars for Riots” Act was introduced by Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) who explained how the nonprofit Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), which played a pivotal role in organizing violent riots against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Los Angeles, received $34 million in state funding and some federal funding.
Kiley says CHIRLA also gave $500,000 to help elect Governor Gavin Newsom.
