So somebody offered $30M for a heavy commercial site. Suppose that there was a busy warehouse there, would that site still be picked for affordable housing? Of course not, and they have not done this to the neighbors.
The only reason for this property is that it is 20 acres without existing buildings (which would not be suitable for conversion into residence).
So this is clearly to me about project price, not about some characteristic of this property making it necessary to take this land for public "use" or "purpose" or whatever bullshit.
Government should not own land IMO.
