A couple of things to remember about the post office:

  • Until the 1970s, USPS was in part funded by the federal government. When it was cut loose, it lost a good portion of it's funding.
  • Only the post office can legally put things in your mailbox. This should be changed - private mail will live or die based on it's costs.
  • The retirement pre-fund ended some years ago, and was pretty much defaulted on during it's entire lifespan.
  • The post office is, by law, not allowed to make a long term profit. It's supposed to be zero-sum, with services paying fully for costs.
  • The laws of the United States give congress the power to establish a postal system, not that they actually need to have one.
  • The post office literally cannot pay for itself because they can't raise prices to actual cost levels.
  • The post office is still hamstrung by the federal government and isn't allowed to adjust it's pricing without approval.
  • Epstein didn't kill himself, and this is something that is still being covered up today. He's most likely still alive somewhere.
  • Letter volume has dropped significantly since the Internet changed personal communication.
  • The post office needs to either be privatized or it's controls need to be loosened so it can operate like it's a private entity.
