We should not pay taxes on our taxes. No one is subsidizing anything. I paid the taxes. The Gov reached into my pocket and removed 4400 dollars. Here in a couple months I get to pay even more taxes but I get to deduct that 4400 from my taxable income. That is all. It's not welfare, it's money the government took from me. I don't get back 4400 dollars, I just don't have to pay tax on that amount.
Where I think we disagree is that I don't believe people should be able to deduct local and state taxes from their federal return.
lol, yes, that is the crux of it. I am just confused about your stance on it. Taxation is Theft. Paying taxes on my taxes infuriates me. I'm getting robbed twice on the same money.
My view is that by allowing these deductions it lets residents who live in stupid high tax states, like NY, CA, and NJ (and apparently TX) get away with funding the ass-fuckery that happens these in states at the cost of less federal tax income. Which means that low tax states make up that balance. It lessens the public demand that localities and states adopt more sensible tax policies, because the populous is subdued by the salt deduction.
