I can't say I'm surprised or really blame him. Why wouldn't he do this? He has nothing to lose. History will already remember him as the worst president. I don't think he really cares what happens to the party after they fucked him over (not that he didn't deserve it).
On one hand it is a shame that we won't get all the dirt that would have come out in the tax case. You could argue that Biden did this to protect himself, not Hunter. On the other hand it gives Trump good political cover to pardon some of the Jan 6th protestors.

I agree completely. It makes sense for Joe (or for Jill) to pardon Hunter and it allows for Trump to pardon whomever he damn well feels like.
