In Idaho at least it was just dross. It was already illegal for non-citizens to vote. The amendment just re-stated that in a different way. It's a good thing for sure, but it didn't produce any functional change.

I think most states were like that. Additionally, “it’s illegal for them to vote at the federal level.” That doesn’t mean it was enforced…no more do the new amendments. What they could possibly used for, however, is a forcing function for tighter processes and procedures.

We live in a society where we need to make bills for things that are already illegal.

Why was it even a 'thing' tho?.

I was under the impression only valid US citizens can vote in a Federal/ Presidential election - until the holo-cov when many Secretaries of State (purposely- to enable fraudulent mail-in ballots not requiring signature verification) unconstitutionally relaxed voter ID laws.

Maybe i should read the article / lol .
