I tried something similar to that approach for most of a year up until ~6-8 months ago, put the archive in as the post link to avoid poalrs opening the source. What ends up happening was someone else would post the same articles a couple of minutes-hours later and POAL doesn't flag it as recently posted for them ... because I had used an archived link of the same article as my post link. That was happening on 3-5 of my posts per day, up to 20% of my typ 25 daily posts. Very annoying. The same thing would happen if I do as you suggest, put a pic8 screenshot in as post link with archive and source links in the body. If POAL would picked up all links included in the post body and the post link, that would cure that problem of people not realizing that article was recently posted.

It does if the link is identical.

That's because the posters decided to submit them anyway after getting a warning on submitting.

That duplication issue dropped immediately after I went back to posting source links and stuffing the archive in the post body. Now if I see an occasional duplicate, it's usually just the same article, but posted in a different sub. So I've been posting that way since. Seemed to be the way the code was intended to work (detect duplication) best.

Like I said, the posters received a duplicate warning but decided to post it anyway, since it's a different sub, it's totally fine. Unless someone floods the same links in several subs.
The duplicate detection works both ways, by comparing the link in the post content and the URL field in the database.
