Yes. The Bush clan and their Never Trump friends have been pushing him hard to run. All he had to do was continue to support Trump and his place at the table was assured. I've been saying for years now that his best path forward would have been running as Trump's VP.

Agreed. He's very much like Trump in that he often listens to very bad advice from people who only have their own agendas at heart.
