Unfortunately with how our system is set up states are dependent on the Feds for all different kinds of funding. The Feds have way too much leverage. States need to take back control.
Then the Red States should stop cooperating with the IRS. The feds have very little enforcement capability without State law enforcement cooperation. If the IRS agents got arrested om State charges every time they broke down a door or pulled out a gun, they'd hesitate to operate in such States. And if the feds sent in the National Guard, that would violate federal law (Posse Comitatus). They would literally be forced to go, hat in hand, back to where laws are supposed to originate, in Congress.
Remember, this is a power grab by the EXECUTIVE branch. Two other branches exist, and State governments, and the feds know it. They get too rough and tough, and the worm turns immediately. The public in the rest of the country would freak out at the sight of an actual invasion. The government wouldn't last a week after that.
If it worked on the Kremlin in the USSR, it'll work on the White House in DC.
Interesting take, but a side effect would mean anyone living in a red state who decided to not pay the taxes would not be able to travel out of state without risk of arrest.
True, but that would be millions of people, and again, terrible optics going after working-class citizens while they're letting the billionaires slide.
