No. That isn't taught. All people are taught is without subsidies, certain things wouldn't be developed as quickly as they were.
It's sort of disheartening (yet also somehow relieving) knowing that, despite being certain there are people out there who are a great deal smarter than me, that the vast majority have no clue about what seem like basics to me. It's no wonder the regime mocks us so much.

I find that to be amazing. I know there's people massively smarter than me in my field, but those same people couldn't hold a conversation outside of their field(s) of expertise. Hell, in the right circumstances they expose how little they actually know about their field of expertise.
