I have a sibling that lives in Vermont. All of the houses in Burlington are just like that. What used to be huge single family houses are converted into three or four different duplex houses each with their own driveway or parking spots. It looks terrible and the units go for more than my mortgage in a red state. Not worth it.

No. All its doing is allowing more family housing units on one lot. Its not highrise towers. Its simply two duplexes. Duplexes are family friendly and expensive neighborhoods will not overrun because landprices will still prevent that.
