Sure they did, they knew he didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting an appointment. They just threw him against the wall so the next guy will look like a saint in comparison. The next nominee will still be a communist POS, but conservatives will herald his appointment as a win because, well, at least it wasn’t Chipman.
