Did the Nazis really go after churches? Thought it was only those critical of the gov

The Bolshevik jews destroyed churches all over Russia. I don't think the Nazis destroyed any except as collateral damage in war.

Sure, but going after a person that’s actively trying to lead a congregation against you is not the same as being anti-everything that person was

The short answer is no. The longer answer is, it's complicated and usually it was the church or the people there. Not just because it was a church.

They were dealing with subversive commies and various Jewish groups back then.
