As I posted elsewhere: - By organizing under the state laws you become subject to that state(or nation-state). You instantly give up the right to be separate from the state. Religious orgs have no business being organized as nonprofits. If they were true to the essence of the religion they would not want anything to do with being an organization that's recognized by the government. And if you give to a religious org to receive tax benefits you're as bad as one of the money changers that Jesus flipped their tables. Yeah a grimey jew.

I agree but it creates a false sense of equality when one religion is allowed to be free from taxation while another isn't. It shows how persecution by culture or faith is present in the system where it is technically not allowed

Yet it provides an apt sense of reality. True followers of the Christ will become more and more persecuted as we carry on. This has been coming for a while now and is well overdue. I expected to see this in the early Obama years honestly...

A repeat article OP. Any faith based business's (not Church that's not a business) can file for a 501(c)3 tax exempt status. "Under federal law, to receive tax-exempt status as a religious organization, an organization must operate exclusively for charitable or educational purposes and must "not attempt to influence legislation" or "participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates." SO if your Church is a 501(c)3 Church, and claims saving the people is our business so we can file like that. You need to find a new Church. These 501(c)3 type Churches can't tell it's members to vote for their candidate, or take a stand against abortion, or criticize the Government in a direct negative way. You are just a number and a tax break to them. I dare that Church to invite the IRS and do a sermon against abortion, and telling their members to only vote Republican (be sure to rip on the Government too). Do mention that you are a 501(c)3 Church and they can't take that away. They will cave in and not do it.

Which basically goes against everything that religion is obviously.
